Project Introduction
Nodle’s mission is to connect the next trillion things to the Internet. Nodle leverages Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) via millions of smartphones and routers to allow enterprises and smart cities to connect IoT devices to the Internet at a low-cost while maintaining privacy and security.
Anyone with a smartphone can help build the network and get rewarded in Nodle Cash (NODL) for providing BLE connectivity to nearby devices and sensors.
The Nodle Network’s architecture and system design leverage what is called “The Smartphone Infrastructure,” utilizing smartphones as nodes and base stations for the network. The team at Nodle has developed an innovative way to grow the network through “Proof of Connectivity.”” Using this method, mobile application developers and consumers compete and participate in the network by enabling their smartphones to provide resources such as wireless radio and bandwidth, and in exchange for their contribution, get rewarded with Nodle Cash.
The Nodle Cash token is generated by the participants and is a reward for them to participate, connect to devices and move granular environmental data. The token is also used to settle transactions, and uers will be able to stake and help validate these transactions as well. Nodle Cash is also a credit system for app developers who will be building services on the network. Businesses pay in Nodle Cash and the token gets split among network participants and the app developers.
Nodle’s attention to protecting people’s privacy have led them to develop their own security for protecting beacons identity and its own protocol like the whisper tracing protocol to enable the creation of zero knowledge social networks leveraging proximal wireless technologies.
For customers, Nodle has partnered with Cisco Meraki to support their access points, piloted with national railways, multiple consumer asset-tracking tag companies that use Nodle to track consumer assets such as keys and other items, a European insurtech company uses Nodle to track stolen vehicles, worked with telcos on pilots to expand IoT offerings and further monetize their networks and many others to ensure there’s real demand for the network. The focus now has been growing the network through app SDK partnerships, including ESTV, the esports live streaming network, which is using the Nodle SDK to replace ads and protect the privacy of their users.
The Nodle Chain is composable with Acala, and Nodle plans to leverage the radical interoperability of the Polkadot ecosystem alongside its patented, cutting edge advances in cryptography to build a more open, secure, and decentralized internet.

Project History
Prior to founding Nodle, CEO/Co-Founder Micha Benoliel built many services in the wireless communications space including a peer-to-peer mesh protocol that was used to launch the off-the-grid messaging app FireChat, which got used on many occasions from disaster recovery situations to pro-Democracy protests like the Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong when 500,0000 students used the app to stay connected. In 2017, Micha Benoliel and Garrett Kinsman (also from FireChat and Ola Cabs), created Nodle, a crowdsourced decentralized wireless network for connecting the next trillions objects and sensors to the Internet.
Nodle has had OEM partnerships with HTC 1 and 1s Exodus phones — the first blockchain phones for HTC where both models were pre-installed with the Nodle Cash app; gone through the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator and 5G Open Innovation Lab in 2020 gaining valuable partnership opportunities.
After saturating Stellar’s mainnet with up to 1.4 million micro-transactions per day, Nodle migrated to Parity Substrate to launch the Nodle Chain with greater scalability and interoperability in mind.
Nodle received a Web3 grant for a public key infrastructure, has a Ledger integration coming out soon, had the City of Paris test and use the network to locate public furniture, and have partnered with many other projects and apps as well.
Nodle’s decentralized wireless network is currently comprised of 5M daily active smartphones with 30 million IoT devices discovered daily in over 100 countries, moving approximately 100 GB of data.
Nodle boasts 320,000+ Nodle Cash app downloads with a strong, passionate community spread across 156 countries.
